Nissan Announces First Fuel Cell Vehicle Lease in North America; “Coca-Cola Zero®” X-TRAIL FCV Promotes Zero Emissions
SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Nissan North America, Inc. (NNA) today announced the lease of an X-TRAIL Fuel Cell Vehicle (FCV) to Sacramento Coca-Cola Bottling Co., Inc. Nissan, which began development of fuel cell vehicle technology in 1996, has previously used FCVs in demonstration fleets in Japan and in California through the California Fuel Cell Partnership (CaFCP), but this is Nissan’s first commercial FCV lease in North America. The Sacramento Coca-Cola lease is for one year, with an option for two additional years.

Renault-Nissan Alliance forges zero-emission vehicle agreement with Reliant Energy
Los Angeles - The Renault-Nissan Alliance today announced that Nissan and Reliant Energy of Houston, Texas, one of the major competitive electricity providers in the nation, have forged an agreement to advance zero-emission mobility in the United States. The announcement helps pave the way for the 2010 introduction of Nissan LEAF, the industry’s first all-electric, zero-emission car designed for the mass market. The company expects to begin sales in late 2010. Reliant is a subsidiary of NRG Energy, Inc. (NYSE: NRG), one of the largest electricity generators in the United States.

Nissan net income at 9.0 billion yen in FY09 first half - Nissan revises up FY09 full-year forecast -
YOKOHAMA - Nissan Motor Co., Ltd., today announced financial results for the first half of fiscal year 2009, ending March 31, 2010, as well as second-quarter performance. In the six months through September, net income after taxes totaled 9.0 billion yen (US $90 million, euro 70 million), down 92.9% compared with the same period last year. The better-than-expected results were due mainly to scrapping incentives in major markets, sales volume growth in China and the effective execution of the Nissan Recovery Plan.

Nissan North America (NNA) has become the first vehicle manufacturer to commercially deploy methanol fuel cells to power its material handling equipment (tugs) at its Smyrna, Tenn., assembly plant. The methanol fuel cells from Oorja Protonics, OorjaPacTM, provide a more energy efficient and cost effective battery-charging process for the 60 tugs that are used to transport thousands of vehicle parts throughout the 5.4 million-square-foot facility.

The Renault-Nissan Alliance forms zero-emission vehicle partnership in Raleigh
RALEIGH, N.C. - The Renault-Nissan Alliance today announced that Nissan is forming a partnership with Progress Energy of Raleigh, N.C., and the Raleigh-based nonprofit agency Advanced Energy, to advance zero-emission mobility by promoting the development of an electric vehicle (EV) charging network.
